| | We Take Volunteers Seriously! | | | At the Green Center, volunteers are highly appreciated and recognized for their efforts. We take your interests and time constraints very seriously. Many volunteers contribute their skills and time because they support the mission of the organization, others just because they enjoy their volunteer activities. The Center's outdoor spaces are often an inspiration for artists, photographers, gardeners, birders and people who are looking for a tranquil experience. We encourage families, individuals and school groups to get involved in our outdoor activities. We offer one-time as well as on-going volunteer opportunities. | | | We respect your time and interests! | | | Each year we have managed to expand our programs. We can only do this with the good help and dedication of our volunteers. Over fifty percent of the Green Center's operations are managed by them. There are many volunteer opportunities to choose from. Whether you enjoy outdoor or indoor activities, working independently or with others, there is a place for you with the Green Center’s Volunteer Team. | | | Please review our Volunteer Opportunities and fill out the volunteer application that will let us know how we can get you started.
| | | Join Our Volunteer Leadership Training Clinic! | | Do you love nature and being outdoors? Have you ever wondered what’s involved in ecological restoration? Do you wish you could do something to help the environment but not know how? Now is your chance to be part of a team working to protect Ruth Park Woods and other important habitats!
The Green Center is leading a series of free workshops designed to teach you about the unique ecology of our urban forests and streams, as well as identification of non-native plant species, caring for native plants, and techniques for monitoring those species.
All sessions will involve hands-on study with a focus on our largest outdoor learning space, Ruth Park Woods. Those who complete the yearlong program will put their knowledge to work serving as leaders during restoration events and projects. Workshops will be held on weekends. No previous experience necessary.
Space is limited, so call The Green Center at 314-725-8314 to reserve your spot!
